Regular Season Round 10: GOCOR-Sozh - BGEU-RCOR 85-80

GOCOR-Sozh's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat BGEU-RCOR (2-7) 85-80 on Friday. BGEU-RCOR trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 38-20 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 80-85 at the end of the game. GOCOR-Sozh made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (187-93) notched 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and point guard Artem Stankevich (185-95) supported him with 33 points (!!!) and 6 steals. Even 23 points and 4 assists by international guard Siarhei Vabishchevich (192-88) did not help to save the game for BGEU-RCOR. Forward Ilyas Salsanov (198-89, college: Faulkner) added 18 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Five BGEU-RCOR players scored in double figures. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. GOCOR-Sozh maintains eighth position with 1-8 record. It was BGEU-RCOR's sixth loss in a row. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. GOCOR-Sozh will meet league's leader Grodno-93 on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. BGEU-RCOR will play against Prinemanye (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
