Regular Season Round 10: Andratx - Barcelona 87-94

Barcelona can celebrate finally their first win this season after nine consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Andratx, where they defeated Andratx (3-7) 94-87. The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-18 Andratx's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 94-87 at the end of the game. Barcelona dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Andratx's 36. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Claudia Baraut (185-94) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Vanesa Verbo (174-94) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83, agency: Regeneracom Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and guard Belen Mejias (180-91) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Andratx. Five Barcelona and four Andratx players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Barcelona maintains fourteenth position in Group B with 1-9 record. Andratx at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Olimpico 64. Barcelona will play against higher ranked UCAM Jairis (#5) in Alcantarilla in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Andratx will play on the road against ASEFA Estudiantes (#6) in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
