The game in Mindanao was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (6-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Filipino Pilipinas Agilas (1-5). Singapore Slingers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 86-67. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Singapore Slingers's pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-16 extending their advantage to 19 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Pilipinas Agilas' 34. They outrebounded Pilipinas Agilas 52-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who added 24 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Singapore Slingers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Willie Miller (180-77) scored 15 points. Singapore Slingers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Hitech. Pilipinas Agilas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Singapore Slingers will play against Saigon Heat (#4) on the road in the next round. Pilipinas Agilas will play against Mono Vampire and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
