Regular Season Round 8: Ippokratis - Olympiacos Pireus 51-83

A1 top team - Olympiacos Pireus (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Ippokratis (2-6) 83-51. Olympiacos Pireus dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ippokratis' 24. They outrebounded Ippokratis 45-24 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olympiacos Pireus players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Hallie Christofferson (190-91, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Olga Chatzinikolaou (181-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Olympiacos Pireus' coach Eleni Kapogianni felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and Australian forward Alex Sheedy (185-92, college: Fresno St.) scored 16 points. Olympiacos Pireus have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Ippokratis at the other side dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Olympiacos Pireus will play against Terpsithea (#7) in Glyfadas in the next round where they are favorite. Ippokratis will play on the road against Athinaikos in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
