Regular Season Round 9: Hapoel B/S - Elitzur Ashkelon 99-87

National League top team - Hapoel B/S (8-1) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (3-6) in Beer Sheva 99-87. Hapoel B/S shot 60.9 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) contributed with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hapoel B/S's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) added 24 points in the effort for Ironi Ashkelon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel B/S have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Hapoel B/S maintains first place with 8-1 record, which they share with Hapoel G/A. Ironi Ashkelon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Hapoel B/S is looking forward to face Ironi Ramat Gan (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ironi Ashkelon will play against Galil Gilboa (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
