Regular Season Round 23: Osaka Evessa - Iwate Big Bulls 92-77

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (10-9) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Osaka Evessa (13-8) 92-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Iwate Big Bulls was better in third quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Iwate Big Bulls to just 7 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Soma Takuya (181-91) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. American forward Alandise Harris (198-90, college: Arkansas) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and guard Fujie Tatsunori (184-87) added 17 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Geoffrey Katsuhisa tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Osaka Evessa. They maintain sixth place with 13-8 record. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Osaka Evessa will face again Iwate Big Bulls (#8) at home in the next round.
