Regular Season Round 18: Xinjiang FT - Guangdong ST 108-100

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Urumqi. First ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige faced 3rd ranked Guandong Tigers. Host Xinjiang Flying Tige (16-2) defeated guests from Dongguan (14-4) 108-100. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guandong Tigers. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 108-100. Xinjiang Flying Tige made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game, while Guandong Tigers only scored four points from the stripe. Xinjiang Flying Tige forced 20 Guandong Tigers turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xinjiang Flying Tige made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) who scored 30 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) chipped in 32 points and 5 rebounds. Xinjiang Flying Tige's coach Qiuping Liu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Dong Hanlin (208-91) added 17 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Xinjiang Flying Tige maintains first position with 16-2 record, which they share with Guangsha L. Guandong Tigers at the other side keep the third place with four games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige is looking forward to face Liaoning Hunters (#5) in Yingkou in the next round. Guandong Tigers will play on the road against DongGuan Leopards and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
