Regular Season Round 10: KL Dragons - Singapore S. 71-78

An exciting game was played in Kuala Lumpur. Second ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers faced one of their biggest challengers Malaysian KL Dragons. Guests from Singapore (8-2) defeated host KL Dragons (5-3) 78-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KL Dragons. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-23 KL Dragons' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 78-71 at the end of the game. KL Dragons were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Center Reggie Johnson (208-89, college: Miami, FL, agency: Three Eye Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and forward Calvin Godfrey (203-90, college: Memphis) added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for KL Dragons. Singapore Slingers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record having just one point less than leader Hitech. KL Dragons at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. Singapore Slingers will play against Mono Vampire (#5) in the next round. KL Dragons will have a break next round.
