Regular Season Round 12: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi Rishon 84-72

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi Rishon (8-3) against ninth ranked Hapoel Eilat (5-7) on Sunday night. Visiting Maccabi Rishon was defeated by Hapoel Eilat in Eilat 84-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maccabi Rishon. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Eilat had a 25-10 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Rishon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-84. Hapoel Eilat made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and American Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Comsport) who added 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Hapoel Eilat's coach Arik Shivek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason) with 15 points and 9 rebounds and international swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to eighth place. Maccabi Rishon at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Hapoel Eilat will play against higher ranked Maccabi Haifa (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel Holon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
