Regular Season Round 26: Shinshu BW - Hiroshima L. 118-87

There was no surprise in Nagano where 12th ranked Hiroshima L. (1-21) was crushed by tenth ranked Shinshu BW (8-14) 118-87 on Sunday. The game without a history. Shinshu BW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Hiroshima L.'s 56. They outrebounded Hiroshima L. 54-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Hiroshima L.'s players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu BW made 8 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Shinshu BW's coach Koju Munakata felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) produced 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) added 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Shinshu BW and four Hiroshima L. players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW maintains tenth position with 8-14 record. Hiroshima L. lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth place with 21 games lost. Shinshu BW will face higher ranked Shimane Magic (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hiroshima L. will play against Tokyo Cinq R. (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
