Regular Season Round 13: Bandirma Kir. - Balikesir 72-84

Very expected game when 16th ranked Bandirma Kir. (3-10) lost at home to seventh ranked Balikesir (8-5) 84-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Balikesir. Bandirma Kir. was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Balikesir won last quarter 26-16. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Ismail Cem Ulusoy (183-96, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Bandirma Kir.Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Balikesir. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Eskisehir Basket. Bandirma Kir. lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with ten games lost. Balikesir will face league's leader Tofas in Bursa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bandirma Kir. will play on the road against Final Genclik (#15) in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
