Very expected game when 12th ranked Chalons-Reims (5-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Chalon/Saor (9-5) 82-70 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Chalon/Saor. Chalons-Reims was better in fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Jeremy Hazell (191-86, college: Seton Hall) chipped in 16 points. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Chalon/Saor maintains seventh position with 9-5 record. Chalons-Reims lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with nine games lost. Chalon/Saor will face Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#10) on the road in the next round. Chalons-Reims will play against SPO Rouen and hope to win that game.
