Regular Season Round 21: Qingdao E. - Shanghai S. 109-101

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Shanghai Sharks (10-11) were defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (9-12) 109-101 on Wednesday. Shanghai Sharks trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 32-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 101-109 at the end of the game. Qingdao Eagles forced 19 Shanghai Sharks turnovers. Shanghai Sharks were plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored 44 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard A.J. Price (188-86, college: Connecticut) who recorded 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Qingdao Eagles moved-up to eleventh place. Shanghai Sharks at the other side keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Qingdao Eagles will face North Control (#16) in Beijing in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
