Regular Season Round 14: Monsummano - Rimini 99-81

Very expected game when 12th ranked Rimini (5-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Monsummano (8-6) 99-81 on Sunday. Monsummano forced 21 Rimini turnovers. Rimini was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Gabriele Giarelli (197-93) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Giorgio Sgobba (202-92) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Monsummano players scored in double figures. Monsummano's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Bulgarian guard Georgi Sirakov (187-92, agency: Interperformances) produced 24 points and naturalized Argentinian guard Adrian Ignacio Chiera (190-94, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Monsummano moved-up to sixth place in B, which they share with Vicenza and Lecco. Loser Rimini dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Monsummano will face San Miniato (#8) on the road in the next round. Rimini will play against Valsesia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
