Very predictable result in Kayseri where eleventh ranked Meliksah (6-9) beat bottom-ranked Istanbul DSI (3-12) 89-79 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-79. The best player for the winners was American Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. His fellow American import guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Mikael Hopkins (206, college: Georgetown) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds and the former international guard Firat Aydemir (187-80) added 26 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Five Meliksah and four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. Meliksah moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Istanbul DSI at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Meliksah will face higher ranked Pertevniyal (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Istanbul DSI will play at home against Akhisar Bld (#11) and hope to win that game.
