There was a surprise result in Starogard where fourteenth ranked Polpharma (5-11) outscored higher ranked Wilki Morskie (7-8) 90-68 on Thursday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Polpharma outrebounded Wilki Morskie 29-18 including 20 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. It was a great evening for point guard Marcin Flieger (185-84, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 4 assists. American swingman Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) helped adding 18 points. Four Polpharma players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Pawel Kikowski (193-86) with 13 points and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW, agency: Comsport) scored 13 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Polpharma. They moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Wilki Morskie keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Polpharma will have a break next round.
