Regular Season Round 12: Gorica - Kvarner 2010 70-94

Leader Kvarner delivered the tenth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Gorica (6-5) 94-70 in Velika Gorica. The game was mostly controlled by Kvarner. Gorica managed to win fourth quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gorica to just 6 points in first quarter. Kvarner dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gorica's 34. Kvarner forced 24 Gorica turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Kvarner especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and guard Paolo Marinelli (191-95) who added 25 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Ljubo Prgomet (194-84) with 10 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian forward Ante Masic (200-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kvarner (10-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Gorica at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Kvarner will meet GKK Sibenik (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gorica will play against KK Skrljevo and hope to secure a win.
