Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Almeria (4-9) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Rivas Promete (10-3) 83-62 on Saturday. Rivas Promete forced 19 Almeria turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Rivas Promete especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Rivas Promete players scored in double figures. Rivas Promete's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Jamaican center Tajay Ashmeade (190-89, college: Seton Hall) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rivas Promete. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Sant Adria. Almeria lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Rivas Promete will face league's second-placed Sant Adria in Sant Adria de Besos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Almeria will play on the road against Olimpico 64 (#12) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
