Very expected game in Changchun where 18th ranked Jilin Tigers (7-22) were defeated by eleventh ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (13-16) 133-123 on Sunday. The game without a history. Shanxi Zhongyu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Jilin Tigers' players. The best player for the winners was American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St.) who had a triple-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 20 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Shuai Yuan (190-94) chipped in 32 points. Shanxi Zhongyu's coach Xujin Zhe used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) produced 43 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Shanxi Zhongyu and five Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Shanxi Zhongyu. They maintain eleventh place with 13-16 record. Jilin Tigers lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. They share it with Bayi R.. Shanxi Zhongyu will meet at home Fujian (#15) in the next round. Jilin Tigers will play against Guandong Tigers and hope to secure a win.
