Regular Season Round 29: Xinjiang FT - Bayi R. 118-97

No shocking result in a game in Urumqi where second ranked Xinjiang Flying Tigers (24-5) outleveled 17th ranked Bayi Rockets (7-22) 118-97 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 118-97. Xinjiang Flying Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Rockets' 68. They outrebounded Bayi Rockets 41-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Wei Su (212-89) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Hao Fu (206-98) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center ZhongHao Xu (212-90) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Xinjiang Flying Tige keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sichuan BW. Loser Bayi Rockets keep the seventeenth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Jilin NE T.. Xinjiang Flying Tige will meet at home Shanghai Sharks (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayi Rockets will play against Beijing Ducks (#7) and hope to secure a win.
