Regular Season Round 29: Pioneros - Soles 85-86

The most exciting game of round 29 in the LNBP took place in Cancun. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked Pioneros (22-3) to first ranked Soles (26-1) 86-85 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the 18-game winning streak of Pioneros. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros' 34. American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. The former international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) answered with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) added 19 points in the effort for Pioneros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles have an impressive series of twenty four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 26-1 record. Pioneros at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Soles will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros will play again at home against the league's leader Soles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
