There was no surprise when 6th ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (3-7) was defeated on the road by second ranked Latvian Liepaja/Triobet (8-3) 77-69 on Tuesday. Barsy Atyrau was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 28-13 charge of Liepaja/Triobet, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Barsy Atyrau was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Toms Leimanis (188-94) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and American center Steve Zack (211-92, college: La Salle) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Liepaja/Triobet players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Dmitriy Klimov (202-88) with 23 points and American guard Ryan Cook (190-90, college: UMBC) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Liepaja/Triobet have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Vytautas. Barsy Atyrau lost third consecutive game.
