Regular Season Round 17: Porto S.Elpidio - Ortona 77-60

There was an upset when higher ranked Ortona (11-6) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Porto S.Elpidio (8-9) 77-60 on Sunday. Porto S.Elpidio dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Ortona's 16. They outrebounded Ortona 43-27 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Francesco Boffini (185-85) who scored 21 points. Forward Lorenzo Tortu (200-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Porto S.Elpidio players scored in double figures. Point guard Manuel Diomede (188-90, agency: Two Points) produced 11 points and 4 steals and point guard Fabrizio Gialloreto (185-87) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Porto S.Elpidio moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Ortona keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Porto S.Elpidio will face higher ranked Campli (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ortona will play against Monteroni and hope to win that game.
