Regular Season Round 23: Neptunas - Siauliai 68-73

Another exciting game was played in Klaipeda between seventh ranked Siauliai and 4th placed Neptunas where Siauliai (9-11) won against Neptunas (10-11) on the road 73-68. It looked good early as Neptunas took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Siauliai took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Neptunas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Cameron Ayers (196-91, college: Bucknell) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Siauliai's coach Gediminas Petrauskas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Gilvydas Biruta (203-91, college: Rhode Island) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Neptunas. Siauliai moved-up to sixth place. Neptunas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Vytautas. Siauliai will play against higher ranked Vytautas (#5) in Prienai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neptunas will play at home against Juventus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
