Regular Season Round 15: Estudiantes - Plenilunio 41-57

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Madrid: Plenilunio (#6) and ASEFA Estudiantes (#3). ASEFA Estudiantes was crushed at home by 16 points 41-57 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of ASEFA Estudiantes. The game without a history. Plenilunio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to ASEFA Estudiantes' 20. Plenilunio forced 26 ASEFA Estudiantes turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Laura Velasco (172-90) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Daira Varas (193-89) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Plenilunio's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Rocio Torcal (172-94) with 13 points and Patricia Arguello (178-87) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Plenilunio (10-5) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Estudiantes and UCAM Jairis. Plenilunio is looking forward to face Segle XXI (#11) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ASEFA Estudiantes will play on the road against Leganes (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
