Regular Season Round 18: Barcelos - FC Porto 63-66

Fifth-ranked Barcelos (9-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked FC Porto Ferpinta (14-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Porto managed to secure only three-point victory 66-63. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Barcelos. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Barcelos won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when FC Porto Ferpinta won last quarter 17-15. The best player for the winners was American guard Seth Hinrichs (203-93, college: Lafayette) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. The former international swingman Jose Silva (194-89) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. FC Porto Ferpinta's coach Moncho Lopez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian swingman Igor Djukovic (202-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Joao Torrie (200-91) added 7 points and 15 rebounds respectively. FC Porto Ferpinta have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted FC Porto Ferpinta maintains second position with 14-2 record having just three points less than leader Benfica. Barcelos at the other side keep the fifth place with eight games lost. FC Porto Ferpinta is looking forward to face Oliveirense (#6) in Oliveira in the next round. Barcelos will have a break next round.
