Regular Season Round 24: Neptunas - Juventus 101-74

The most important game in the last round took place in Klaipeda between third ranked Juventus (11-11) and fourth ranked Neptunas (11-11) on Sunday night. Juventus was crushed by Neptunas on the road 74-101. The game was mostly controlled by Neptunas. Juventus managed to win third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Neptunas forced 19 Juventus turnovers and outrebounded them 37-21 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Juventus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Neptunas' coach Dainius Adomaitis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) replied with 14 points and his fellow American import swingman Spencer Butterfield (190-92, college: Utah St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 12 points in the effort for Juventus. Four Neptunas and five Juventus players scored in double figures. Neptunas moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Juventus. Neptunas is looking forward to face league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Juventus will play at home against the league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
