Regular Season Round 16: La Roda - Azuqueca 69-79

Very expected game when 14th ranked La Roda (2-11) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Azuqueca (8-5) 79-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Azuqueca. La Roda was better in fourth quarter 24-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Azuqueca looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. La Roda was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Faronte Drakeford (201, college: Cent.Conn.St.) fired 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Leroy Isler (196-91, college: UALR) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Sergio Hervas (184-92) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four La Roda players scored in double figures. La Roda's coach let to play ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Azuqueca moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Tenerife Naut. La Roda lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Azuqueca will face higher ranked Alcazar (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. La Roda will play against Gran Canaria (#8) and hope to win that game.
