Regular Season Round 20: Magnitka-Univ. - Rusichi K. 75-78

Eighth-ranked Magnitka-Univ. (4-16) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Rusichi K. (14-8) in Magnitogorsk on Saturday. The visitors from Kursk managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Rusichi K. forced 25 Magnitka-Univ. turnovers. Strangely Magnitka-Univ. outrebounded Rusichi K. 57-32 including a 40-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Nikolay Zavyalov (188-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 6 rebounds. Center Andrei Sysoev (208-88) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Alexey Chupin (200-96) replied with 30 points and 8 rebounds and forward Artem Kurinnoy (202-82) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Magnitka-Univ.Magnitka-Univ.'s coach Artur Bigeev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Rusichi K. maintains third position with 14-8 record having five points less than leader Dynamo-MGTU. Magnitka-Univ. at the other side keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost. Rusichi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Magnitka-Univ. will play at home against Sogdiana-Skif (#4) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
