Regular Season Round 15: Dinamo Tbilisi - Batumi 60-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tbilisi. First ranked Batumi faced 3rd placed Dinamo Tbilisi. Guests from Batumi (11-4) smashed host Dinamo Tbilisi (9-6) 80-60. It looked good early as Dinamo Tbilisi took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Batumi had a 28-18 second period charge getting the lead and Dinamo Tbilisi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-80. It was a good game for Ukrainian forward Leonid Stefanishin (199-85) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard Aubrey McAlpine (196, college: Robert Morris) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Nodar Gogodze (191-94) added 15 points in the effort for Dinamo Tbilisi. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Batumi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-4 record. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Batumi will play against Mgzavrebi (#4) in Tbilisi in the next round. Dinamo Tbilisi will play on the road against Energy Invest in Rustavi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
