The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Thessaloniki: Aris (#4) and PAOK (#5). PAOK was defeated at home 69-77 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Aris forced 21 PAOK turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by PAOK helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Jerel McNeal (191-87, college: Marquette) fired 19 points for the winners. The other American import point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. American point guard Wiliam Hatcher (188-84, college: Miami, OH) produced 16 points and the former international swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aris maintains fourth position with 11-5 record. PAOK at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Aris are looking forward to face Lavrio (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. PAOK will play against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) in Athens and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
