Bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 20th consecutive match to seventh ranked Adelaide Lightning (8-12) 85-82 on Sunday evening. Canberra Capitals trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 23-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-85 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Canberra Capitals 41-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Adelaide Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Her fellow American import forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) accounted for 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Renee Montgomery (170-86, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) came up with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) added 26 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Canberra Capitals in the defeat. Adelaide Lightning maintains seventh place with 8-12 record. Loser Canberra Capitals still closes the standings. Adelaide Lightning will meet at home higher ranked SEQ (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
