Rather expected game when 9th ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (6-10) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Ryazan (10-6) 86-77 on Monday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ryazan made 7 blocks. Guard Sergey Zakharov (194-86) fired 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Forward Nikita Barinov (203-91) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Alexander Martynov (196-95) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and Artem Komolov (194-93) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ryazan moved-up to third place, which they share with Univ.Surgut and TEMP-SUMZ. Loser Ural Ekaterinburg keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with MBA Moscow. Ryazan will meet league's leader Sakhalin in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ural Ekaterinburg will have a break next round.
