Regular Season Round 17: Mono Vampire - Pilipinas Agilas 101-82

Bottom-ranked Thailand Mono Vampire managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses. This time defending Thailand champion outleveled fifth-ranked Filipino Pilipinas Agilas 101-82. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference proves that Mono Vampire was well-prepared to that game. The game was mostly controlled by Mono Vampire. Pilipinas Agilas was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pilipinas Agilas 44-24 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mono Vampire players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. American Clevland Melvin nailed a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and his fellow American import center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) accounted for 16 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Mono Vampire's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and forward Val Acuna (188-86) added 13 points respectively for Pilipinas Agilas in the defeat. Five Pilipinas Agilas players scored in double figures. Defending Thailand champion (3-14) moved-up to fifth place. Pilipinas Agilas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Mono Vampire will play against league's leader Singapore Slingers at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pilipinas Agilas will have a break next round.
