Regular Season Round 37: Xinjiang FT - Qingdao E. 139-104

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Qingdao Eagles (16-21) were outleveled by third ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (29-8) in Urumqi 139-104 on Wednesday. Xinjiang Flying Tige shot 68.5 percent from the field and made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Xinjiang Flying Tige outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 44-24 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Qingdao Eagles' players. American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and international forward Gen Li (196-88) accounted for 26 points. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with 48 points (!!!) and guard Xudong Luo (188-88) added 18 points respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to second place, which they share with Sichuan BW. Loser Qingdao Eagles dropped to the thirteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Fujian QB. Xinjiang Flying Tige will meet at home TianJin Steel (#18) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Qingdao Eagles will play against Shanghai Sharks (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
