Guillermo Diaz nailed a late bucket and Arecibo nipped Brasilia in the opening game of Group D. The Puerto Rican team earned a 45:42 halftime lead. They poured in 31 points in the third term to open a 9-point lead. Brasilia erased the deficit in the final period but Capitanes managed to eke out a tough win at the end. David Huertas finished with 29 points for Arecibo. Guillermo Diaz added 20 points for the winners. Deryk Ramos responded with 33 points for Brasilia.
