There was no surprise in Dublin where 10th ranked Eanna (2-12) was crushed by fourth ranked UCD Marian (8-6) 94-64. UCD Marian shot 67.3 percent from the field. UCD Marian outrebounded Eanna 55-32 including a 43-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. UCD Marian brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. Spanish forward Dustan Moreira (202-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 23 rebounds. Guard Barry Drumm (186-87) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five UCD Marian players scored in double figures. Center Conor Gallagher (208-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Luke Thompson (190-94) added 14 points in the effort for Eanna. UCD Marian maintains fourth position with 8-6 record, which they share with Swords Thunder. Eanna lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. UCD Marian will play against higher ranked Killester (#3) in Dublin in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Eanna will play on the road against UL Eagles (#7) in Limerick and hopes to get back on the winning track.
