Regular Season Round 15: Lombos Quinta - Sporting 56-46

Very expected game in Carcavelos where 9th ranked Sporting (5-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Lombos Quinta (9-6) 56-46. The game was mostly controlled by Lombos Quinta. Sporting was better in fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sporting to just 5 points in second quarter. Lombos Quinta made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sporting 46-29 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international center Sonia Borges dos Reis (189-84) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. International point guard Ines Viana (166-94) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Lombos Quinta's coach Jose Leite allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International point guard Ines Faustino (170-92) answered with 14 points and international Dora Duarte (174-86) added 11 points in the effort for Sporting. Lombos Quinta have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Benfica. Newly promoted Sporting keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Lombos Quinta's next round opponent will be Lousada (#6) on the road. Sporting will play against Olivais and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
