Regular Season Round 17: Apollon Patras - Kavala 66-59

Date: February 6, 2016
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Apollon Patras (8-9) beat at home 13th ranked Kavala (4-13) 66-59 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kavala won third quarter 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Devon Saddler (183-91, college: Delaware, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed 15 points and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import center Tony Woods (211-90, college: Oregon) accounted for 10 points and 13 rebounds. Belizean-American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Bulgarian Chavdar Kostov (195-88, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Kavala in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Apollon Patras moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nea Kifisia and PAOK. Newly promoted Kavala keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Apollon Patras will meet league's second-placed Panathinaikos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kavala will play against AEK Athens (#3) and hope to secure a win.
