Regular Season Round 17: Alcazar - Azuqueca 86-84

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Alcazar (10-4) edged at home 5th ranked Azuqueca (8-6) 86-84 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Azuqueca won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alcazar looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Azuqueca's players. Forward Yago Estevez (204-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Alcazar players scored in double figures. Alcazar's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Faronte Drakeford (201, college: Cent.Conn.St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import guard Leroy Isler (196-91, college: UALR) added 36 points (!!!) in the effort for Azuqueca. Alcazar maintains third place in Group B with 10-4 record having ten points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Loser Azuqueca keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Alcazar will face Gran Canaria (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Azuqueca will play against Estudiantes B (#13) and hope to win that game.
