Regular Season Round 19: Stelmet ZG - Polpharma 86-80 OT

Thirteenth-ranked Polpharma (6-14) made lots of trouble for first ranked Stelmet (17-2) in Zielona Gora on Sunday. Stelmet managed to secure only six-point victory 86-80. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Polpharma won fourth quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Polpharma used huge pressure winning it 19-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-12. Stelmet made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Polpharma was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) fired 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: Mississippi St., agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 21 points. American swingman Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) produced 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stelmet have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Polpharma at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Stelmet will face Energa Czarni (#5) in Slupsk in the next round. Polpharma will play on the road against Trefl (#16) in Sopot and hope to win that game.
