Regular Season Round 14: KFI - Hamar 62-85

The game in Isafjordur supposed to be also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked Hamar (8-6) played at the court of 8th ranked KFI (3-11). Hamar smashed KFI 85-62. The game was mostly controlled by Hamar. KFI was better in fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to KFI's 36. Hamar had a 38-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by KFI's players. 25 personal fouls committed by KFI helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 7 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Thorsteinn Gunnlaugsson (190-82) supported him with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by center Birgir Petursson (205-86) did not help to save the game for KFI. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. KFI's coach Birgir Birgisson gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Hamar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 8-6 record. KFI lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Hamar's next round opponent will be Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur. KFI will play at home against Skallagrimur and hope to win that game.
