Regular Season Round 18: Opladen - Neuss 68-66

Date: February 13, 2016
The most exciting game of round 18 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Leverkusen. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best TG Neuss (13-4) to sixth ranked SG BBZ Opladen (9-7) 68-66 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TG Neuss. TG Neuss trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 25-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 66-68 at the end of the game. Strangely TG Neuss outrebounded SG BBZ Opladen 50-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by TG Neuss helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Christina Krick (169) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four SG BBZ Opladen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Marquita Waller (180-88, college: VCU) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jana Heinrich (188-86, college: San Diego St.) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. TG Neuss' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SG BBZ Opladen moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Braunschweig. TG Neuss at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. SG BBZ Opladen is looking forward to face higher ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TG Neuss will play against Braunschweig and are hoping to win this game.
