Regular Season Round 22: Brasilia - Universo/Vitoria 81-67

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Brasilia (13-7) beat at home 13th ranked Universo/Vitoria (6-15) 81-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-67. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international Arthur Silva (196-82) scored 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 18 points during the contest. At the losing side center Renan Leichtweis (211-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Spanish Alvaro Calvo (202-83, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 13-7 record. Universo/Vitoria lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. Brasilia will face Sao Jose/Vinac (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Universo/Vitoria will play against the league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and hope to win that game.
