The Breakers upset the United in Melbourne to step closer to the NBL Finals. United was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 53-41 second half run of New Zealand Breakers. Fijian-New Zealand forward Mika Vukona (197-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) accounted for 20 points. New Zealand Breakers' coach Dean Vickerman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for United in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
