Xinjiang toppled Guangdong to take 2-0 lead in the semifinal series. Guangdong Dolphins were ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 37-20 charge of Xinjiang, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Guangdong Dolphins 47-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) notched a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Siyue Qiu (177-91) supported her with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists by American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) did not help to save the game for Guangdong Dolphins. International forward Sijing Huang (192-96) added 20 points for the guests. Four Guangdong Dolphins players scored in double figures.
