Semi-Finals Game 1: Wildcats - Hawks 80-68

The Perth Wildcats grabbed the opening victory in the NBL semifinal series. They edged the Illawarra Hawks in the opener. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-68. Perth Wildcats made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American forward Casey Prather (196-91, college: Florida) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and the former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) responded with 23 points and the former international center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
