Second Stage Round 8: Suduva-Mantinga - Telsiai 93-71

Leader Suduva-Mantinga delivered the twenty eighth victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Telsiai (14-19) 93-71 in Marijampole. It looked good early as Telsiai took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Suduva-Mantinga had a 29-16 second period charge getting the lead and Telsiai was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-93. Suduva-Mantinga dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Telsiai's 32. Suduva-Mantinga forced 20 Telsiai turnovers and outrebounded them 40-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Gintautas Matulis (195-86) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Marius Kiltinavicius felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ovidijus Kaminskas (195-91) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Laurynas Kaveckis (190-90) added 20 points in the effort for Telsiai. Suduva-Mantinga maintains first position with 28-5 record. Newly promoted Telsiai keeps the seventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Nafta-Uni.. Suduva-Mantinga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Telsiai will play at home against Lietkabelis-2 (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
