Regular Season Round 19: La Roda - Torrelodones 91-51

There was an upset when higher ranked Torrelodones (6-10) was rolled over on the road by fourteenth ranked La Roda (5-11) 91-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. La Roda led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Torrelodones to just 7 points in fourth quarter. La Roda dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Torrelodones' 32. They outrebounded Torrelodones 46-24 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. La Roda looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Torrelodones' players. Senegalese power forward Michel Diouf (208-90) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Four La Roda players scored in double figures. Forward Ruben Portes (192-81) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) added 15 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for La Roda. They moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Casvi and Estudiantes B. Torrelodones lost their third game in a row. Torrelodones at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. La Roda will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#5) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
