Second Stage Round 8: Petrochema - Lietkabelis-2 71-65

There was no surprise in Jonava where 14th ranked Lietkabelis-2 (7-26) was defeated by eighth ranked Petrochema (16-17) 71-65. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 19-13 Lietkabelis-2's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 71-65 at the end of the game. Petrochema forced 23 Lietkabelis-2 turnovers. Forward Karolis Sarukas (198-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Justas Vazalis (192-96) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Benas Bagdonavicius (202-91) replied with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Tadas Mince (194-93) added 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Lietkabelis-2. Four Lietkabelis-2 players scored in double figures. Petrochema maintains eighth position with 16-17 record. Newly promoted Lietkabelis-2 stay dead last with 26 lost games. Petrochema will play against Nafta-Uni. (#10) in Klaipeda in the next round. Lietkabelis-2 will play on the road against Silute (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
